Electronics recycling is a passion of ours! The fact that we have been able to couple the eRecycle events with raising money for local charities brings a dynamic that not only helps the environment but our local community. All the charities we have worked with help the community in different ways and we have been happy to a part of their cause. The October 19th eRecycle event has an even greater meaning to the Sun Digital team after reading a recent report by the Consensus Bureau which showed an increase of poverty to 15.1% in the United States! This means that 1 in 6 people in the United States live in poverty. In addition, the Child Food Insecurity report, issued by Feeding America, reported that Florida ranked 10th in the nation for child food insecurity, where 27.5% of children in Florida worry everyday about if they are going to eat.
These are staggering statistics make the upcoming eRecycle event that much more important to come out as a community and support. Our eRecycle event charity partner, Brothers Keeper specifically helps the people most in need in Marion County by providing the impoverished one of the most basic and essential things in life-FOOD!
Please come out and support our local community by donating your retired electronic items and food items. Brothers Keeper, has asked for specific donations of Peanut Butter, Jelly, Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Spaghetti Sauce, Spaghetti Noodles, and Cereal but all canned and dry goods will be humbly accepted.
